Well thank God, because as somebody in a transgender marriage, I think it's time that my rights were protected. For too long, marriage has been limited to same-sex couples.
Show PostI'm spending my afternoon sitting through two soccer youth soccer games that my 14-year-old kid isn't even playing in, because he's a ref, and every weekend a parent or coach acts like an absolute jackass to him. Last weekend, a parent said he'd "deal with" him "after the game." What the hell?
Show PostThe biggest problem is girls who have just gotten their ears pierced. The league rules say in all caps that no players may play in earrings, even if they are taped up, that there will no exceptions. And every girls' game, there is an outraged parent. "We can't remove these—just let her play!" No!
Show PostSo now I'm sitting at a game, not to watch the game, but to intervene when a parent or coach starts abusing my kid for enforcing the rules of soccer. At least it's a beautiful day?
Show PostI think parents' anxiety about paying for their kid's college one day has led them to figure their kid will simply have to become so good at soccer (or whatever) that they'll get a sports scholarship, so every game feels like the kid's future is on the line. So they yell at a kid ref.
