Hmmmm. Clive was condemned as "Lord Vulture" by many prominent contemporaries for being duplicitous, conniving and rapacious. Horace Walpole condemned Clive's time as governor of Bengal for the East India Company, writing that they "starved millions in India by monopolies and plunder".
