2021 we upgraded to a piece of PVC pipe that I rummaged out of the basement. Baby Zoe was very helpful. (She was eight weeks old so most of our energy that year went to saying “WHAT’S IN YOUR MOUTH?” approximately eleven million times a day.)

The signs made their debut in 2024, and successfully lured in a lot of people including a pack of teens who came very warily down the street apparently expecting a Looney Tunes-style hole in the ground. Thus the addition of TOTALLY NOT A TRAP in 2025.

much like the year that the large pile of leaves next to my setup had a sign on it that said "please do not put dead bodies in the leaf pile -- you know who you are" caused the adults significant consternation.

The ultimate validation of a person's character is if a random cat they don't know will choose to snuggle up to them. The cat has judged a person safe and their presence desirable. They know who can be trusted and who cannot.
