the question is not “should the NYT report on this?” (fine whatever) the question is “should the NYT do a full blown feeding frenzy about this such that it is cited in the other big papers and Trump administration DOJ court filings one week before the midterms” (obviously not)

in my post i state that the thing i specifically object to is not reporting on the story but the choice to frame it as if its a major scandal being uncovered (and subsequent decisions to assign "drumbeat" coverage to new developments in the story that continue adopting that framing)
