I have a vague memory of it from when I was 4. after that, it was taboo. My friends would take an extra pillowcase and tell the neighbors it was for me. That was really kind of them. I looked forward to that candy.

Same. I convinced my mom she had to let me do it because me and friends were taking the exchange student from Columbia and it's for America mom. 😅

There are many reasons I never question older kids, but one of them is that my dad never let us trick-or-treat when we were younger and the first time I did it was when I was 15 or so, and he was teaching night classes.

I was afraid that people would ask me if I was too old, and I didn't want to have to tell everyone that it was my first time going. I'm grateful to everyone who just treated me like any other kid.
