I think there are wide swathes of American pop culture that have stagnated since the mid 2000s or at least the 2010s. Very different from when you and I were kids and young adults.

Monitor improvements really are one of the few bright spots (heh) in computer hardware right now. I'm going to guess you're not playing any games that even have native HDR support, so there's still room for more wow-factor in the future. HDR videos on YouTube may be worth a look too.
