to explain my take on the "fic distribution during the ao3 outage" discourse, I have to give some background... years ago, I took down my fics in another fandom. I had experienced mass harassment and no longer wanted to be part of that fandom. someone made my fics available via Google Drive.

all that to say... I don't approve of reuploading someone else's fics to another fanfic site. but sharing archived copies (with all credits) of otherwise inaccessible fics on a drive is totally fine in my book and in keeping with the spirit of fandom and sharing fanworks in the first place.

fandom is a community activity. I think that gets lost in these conversations. it's something you do with others. you share your fanworks with the community not for individual acclaim but for the benefit of the fannish community. that's the whole point.
