We have twin 11 year old high needs autistic sons and 4 or 5 neighbours had bags of treats ready to go for them just in case they couldn’t make it out for whatever sensory/routine/whatever reason Just a fantastic way to make our whole family feel like part of the community.

Tonight two of our editors went trick-or-treating with our adult very obviously disabled autistic sons. We’ve been doing the same route for 15 years. More than one person handing out treats said, “we’ve been waiting for you!” This is what community, belonging, and inclusion look like.

Perhaps one should not compare the support of LGBTQ+ people, who are real people who simply wish to exist and are persecuted for just expressing their identities, to people in tech fields who want to use a technology that is directly funded by people who wish LGBTQ+ people dead. Perhaps.
