I have to believe that targeted online advertising is fake. Like, there's no way these companies harvesting our data are actually making great predictions. If they were so good at knowing what ads I'd click on, why are all my targeted ads for AI scams and online gambling?

Reading thru an ex-Google exec's deposition unsealed last night, these excerpts stopped me cold. Brings questions of IAB's independence, especially given its silence on Google's antitrust violations. And little hope it'll speak up about Meta's sweeping new commercial terms. 1/2
