£1.25bn subsidy for Rolls-Royce to develop a new engine. RR will keep assets and income streams. RR had operating profit of £3.5bn in 2024-25, will pay £9bn to shareholders over next 3 years. Why are shareholders not funding new engine? UK Govt won't take equity stake, £1.25bn not repayable.

UK pensioners won't pay tax on income of up to £13,036. A clawback taper on income between £13,036 & £13,319. Some will pay marginal tax at 53%. Above £13,319, personal allowance of £12,570 will apply. Workers on £13,036 will pay income tax + NIC. Complex and divisive rules.

Savers' interest income (other than ISA and tax-free allowance) set to be taxed from April 2027 at marginal rates of 24%, 44% and 49%. Support for the wealthy: Dividends will be taxed at rates 10.75% to 39.35%. Capital gains at 18% to 24%. Cash savers penalised.
