I turned 18 in 1995. I at least had about six years as an adult where we weren’t engaged in wars for civilisation, and more than ten when governing was in theory more than burning what remains of the postwar consensus. Imagine reaching adulthood in 2008? Kids born when Bear Stearns died are 18 now.

Maybe it is, and I’m sure there is pretty horrendous stuff out there. I don’t particularly like the way the rubber is meeting the road here, and it bodes ill for how the police are going to interpret the legislation.

I agree, but it is not clear to me that there is e.g. some kind of terrifying epidemic of chubby ladies’ bottoms fatally smooshing men’s faces to death that we urgently need to combat.
