I would love to have AI working on cancer or solving food insecurity, but nope. Businesspeople (derogatory) would rather kill the planet and ruin entire economies in a 500 billion dollar circle jerk.

Oh yeah. The time to prevent AI from becoming an existential threat was several years ago. There SHOULD have been a Manhattan-Project-style program to restrict it and develop it with safeguards. But modern businesspeople (derogatory) “move fast and break things” regardless of what those things are.
