High estrogen promoted male-directed social preference and more persistent choices. Knocking down estrogen receptor alpha in the medial prefrontal cortex abolished these estrogen-dependent behavioral changes. (3/n)

We combined longitudinal Neuropixels recordings in freely moving mice, social choice assay, quantitative behavioral phenotyping, and estrogen levels and receptor manipulations to investigate how estrogen reshapes cortical coding and connectivity for adaptive social decision-making. (2/n)
