Helen Joyce did definitely hit on something at one point - when she highlighted the impact on schools. B/c schools are actually performing conversion practises on trans kids right now. So logically any proper ban should cover them. But in reality, the bill is v.weak.

The Spanish also introduced a helpline. This provided real practical and legal advice. The UK? We get an offshoot of the corrupt EHRC after going through hoops, and the much floated NHS helpline for trans people was nothing more than "Oh dear how sad. Have an aspirin."

Exactly. The GC starting point has always been that we are nothing more than men in dresses, and despite all the anti-trans legislation, it is acknowledged in the EA/GRA that we exist. And even if the proposed law isn’t great (it should be like Spain), it’s a toehold.
