As McKellen said, Patrick Stewart's proudest achievement in life was to have been named Chancellor of Huddersfield University. His father was a postman, his mother a mill worker. He never went to university. Having a place of honour at his local former polytechnic was a huge deal.

As good as Stewart was as an actor, I think about this personal story he shared with a fan about witnessing the domestic abuse suffered by his mother. It’s incredibly moving and worth watching in full.
