Sir Patrick Stewart should be remembered as one of the brightest examples of how men can embody an alternative, positive, and healthy masculinity. Not by being a perfect man, but by being a man who openly expressed the emotional complexities, vulnerabilities, and contradictions of masculinity.

jean-luc picard was one of the best, least-toxic, examples of masculinity available to me as a kid. He was someone who showed that refined tastes didn't have to pair with terrible politics: you can be a space communist who leads from the front and loves classical music and theater.
