New research involving 378 hospitalised COVID-19 patients found that elevated levels of IL-6, an inflammatory signalling molecule, and neutrophils together in a blood test identified patients with a 14-fold higher risk of death. The test could improve risk prediction, but further research is needed.

But I think stopping cheating just to stop it is a bit like taking the battery out of your smoke alarm to be able to go back to sleep. Simply finding a way to silence the signal doesn’t actually engage with the information the signal is communicating.

My sense is that beyond a certain threshold, cheating both becomes so amorphous as a principle and so ubiquitous as a practice that students and professors begin to restructure how material is learned and approached in every facet of the course design and completion.
