"It would be good if it was good" is tolerable. It's something that can be contemplated with equanimity and even discussed in polite company. "It legitimately IS good, except for one extremely specific creative choice that annoys the piss out of me" will have you gnawing off your own limbs.

I think this is my issue with artificial depth of field in games. Like, I'm not seeing fuzz in the distance IRL because my eyes can just refocus like that, so it feels weird to see fuzzy distance in games. Takes me right out of it.

Occasionally I come across these guys who are very concerned with photography that sees things the way our eyes do but do not seem to actually understand the way our eyes (and more importantly, brain) see things.
