Ofc, now #bbcwato is broadcasting a load of vox pops about whether welfare "is out of control". How many people do you know who have any idea that welfare spending as a % of GDP has fallen rather than "exploded" over the past decade? Absolutely terrible journalism. #wato

Another expert has made the GDP point, and noted that the £100nn increase the right wing are talking about, & the BBC is using as it's headline figure, will mostly be pension increases. The amount that is disability benefits is £16bn. The overall increase would be to 11.3% of GDP. #wato #bbcwato
