My mother in laws priest is an incredible preacher, speaks like 6 languages, is a capable administrator, leading a $16 million+ building project, leading a parish of 9000 families..And would be deported by those chuds because he was born in Vietnam.

This is not to say that anyone should be subject to the horrors of ICE and the rampant abuses therein. I only post this to highlight the absurdity and evil of white Christian nationalism in a global/international era. The body of Christ, however flawed, has always been global.

I think one of the confusions of economic discourse of the moment is the difference between “squeezed” and “struggling.” I’m going to use my own position. We have a comfortable household income by U.S standards, albeit in an expensive city. I can buy nice things and be generous to others
