… hyper-cautious of missing something important state. But it was well-masked, I didn’t perform that stress, and of course when emergencies did occur (and they do, fairly regularly) there was nowhere to escalate *to* so I guess, yeah, now I look like the person keeping their head while all around… 🤷‍♀️

Trying to empathise with people who are annoying me often defuses my frustration. Finally, there's something about how being calm, patient and measured is *part of the job*. By refusing to perform STRESS! I hope I make the people around me feel reassured, and a little calmer themselves.

Another thing that helped is learning not to be so angry, so often. Easier said than done, I know. A former boss gently pulled me up on this by asking: "Do you think they're doing this annoy you, because they're arseholes? Or might there be another reason?"

But there are times when I *do* feel quite in control. Part of it is that I've got better at knowing what I can and cannot influence. One of my new repetitive mantras is "You can't line manage the whole world, Ray." Sometimes, it's fine to just turn away from a problem and let someone else deal.
