But there was another lonelier part that liked the security of knowing exactly what she could get from Levi. Sweet words. Pretty lies. Comfort. A soft facade she could wrap herself in just for a night. She could pretend that he loved her just a tiny bit. For a night, she could lose herself in a lie.

There was a part of Feather that knew that Levi was only saying all of this for his own sake. He wanted her just to make himself feel good. He didn't care at all about her feelings or what might happen if another mishap turned about and she had to take the brunt of being eviscerated in the press.
