I remember someone commenting years ago that one of the greatest bits of propaganda (copaganda?) is the story that Lawyers are blood sucking immoral leeches and the cops are decent honest and brave. It was really the start of my "Huh.... so... the cops...." journey.

Defense lawyer here: just because someone is "clearly guilty" doesn't mean they had a fair trial. Perhaps you think they are "clearly guilty" because the trial was in fact unfair & tainted by prosecutorial misconduct? How would you know without defense counsel bringing these things to light?
