He dressed like a lobster for Halloween. He smoked weed. He made stupid jokes. He was not just a normal guy, he was a funny & weird & interesting guy and it was just a great surprise to see the Serious Dad of so much fiction was a fully realized weirdo in the best ways. I'm glad we got to see that.

Then he became Professor X and was Serious Comic Book Dad. Again, not mean or unpleasant, but responsible and thoughtful. He personified what it meant to be competent, knowledgeable, and prepared in most everything I saw him in. Then he got Twitter and he was an absolute goofball.

Something that endeared Patrick Stewart to me was that I grew up with him on Star Trek and I knew him as Serious Space Dad. Captain Picard was not mean or unpleasant, but he got the job done. He was stern but also human.He was mature and responsible. He seemed like the adult in the room.
