I lost an old friend of mine over a year ago now. He was trans. He was beautiful. He committed suicide. I think it was genuinely lonely for him, to be so himself in a world full of cowards. Seeing what I am seeing lately, it feels right to say that again.

Even if they are "just being a strategic bigot" it shows that they aren't above dehumanizing others. It shows that they don't have any semblance of solidarity and would gladly move onto targeting the next vulnerable group if it's politically convenient.
