I think the ticking time-bomb mentality around people experiencing paraphilias has genuinely done far more damage than the people who are experiencing them. I hate how easily people decide *those* involuntary feelings make you undeserving of empathy, as if we had any choice in turning out like this

I feel like the conversation would instantly be so much easier to have if we stopped pretending that paraphilias were somehow "evil" or needed to be "cured". they dont really go away, but that's okay! having a paraphilia doesnt mean you'll hurt somebody, nobody should have to be scared of themself
