Its not to blame creatives for crunch, more so that in an ideal world we don't live in, managers would be looking out for them by forcing them to be done after a certain point before it becomes caustic to themselves. Unfortunately we live in a capitalist hellscape, joy.
Show PostI often think about this annecdote I heard somewhere about how you need to manage creatives, because they will otherwise crunch themselves into a burnout. Somewhere along, we made those creatives managers, and we told the managers they needed perfection without time, so crunch just exists.
Show PostWe're constantly made to feel like our worth is our work, that to get seen and get the attention we want, we need to be perfect, to do the very best we always can, and after a certain point that pressure is just toxic for yourself and your own work. You cannot make the perfect work. Let go.
Show PostYou know recent talk about stuff (yes, its Uchikoshi related) has made me think again on how important it is to just be DONE with a piece of work, like after a certain point you just gotta say "i'm done send it" you can't just do constant revisions forever. And as a creative, that hits hard.
Show PostIt's been such a staggering change from when I was able-bodied that it's hard to confront let alone even begin describing how much worse everyone treats you when you're disabled. I've been passed over for work, lost friends and partners, and get treated like shit by random people in public.
