Interestingly, there's some game dialogue about that as well (wrt some marks being violent) that even prior to this I was seeing a weird fandom consensus that "MOST or ALL of his victims were evil rapists." Which is not what he's saying!

Right??? I just truly don't get it, it doesn't make the relationship less meaningful? It feels very immature. Also my Durge dramatically disemboweled himself on the docks at the end of the game, so I would hope Astarion would eventually move on!

which means when I got that line it was on my non-romanced playthrough where I only had MEDIUM approval with him act III! I always felt my Tav's reaction was just "wait what really??? you barely tolerate me!"
