Nordhaus did some good early work but his ignorance of ecology and narrow focus ultimately made him a source of reassurance for the beneficiaries of the status quo, esp the fossil carbon industry. Overall his contribution to thinking about the climate crisis was catastrophic.

I wouldn't mention Nordhaus in the same breath as Manabe. Manabe established the true physical connection of CO2 to global warming Nordhaus used sloppy economics to try to tell people that, in the end, it wouldn't matter much.

I feel a huge sigh of relief that both Crockett and Stevens lost, and I say this as someone who used to be a fan of Crockett from afar. I can't believe how badly both handled defeat.
