in the culture i grew up feet are inherently dirty and it would be disrespectful to even put them on the couch, and goodness forbid touch a pillow. so seeing that he wears the us flag on his feet just makes me think he's disrespecting his country - which, well, if the shoe fits, wear it, et al.
