I doubt this would happen but please note you do not have my permission to do this. I have all my docs saved and if you want a copy please just ask me!
Show Postit's so depressing. I'm reading these threads and it's like...there are no writers behind the works to these folks. "Give me x fandom, give me y fandom." "I've got 5K fics in this dump," etc. Doesn't feel that much different than folks scraping the Archive.
Show PostAll these feeble "make sure to go back and leave a comment when AO3 is back online 🙂" statements like...lol, most readers can't be bothered under normal circumstances, I'm sure people ripping through the thousands-of-fics drive will keep a careful spreadsheet of all the works they want to praise.
Show PostPeople have always passed around fics that were taken offline; I have both received and shared works this way, in 1:1 or small private settings. But it's quite different to post them publicly on a platform that many writers are actively avoiding putting work on due to AI and security issues.
Show PostIt's interesting that AO3 is down for such a lengthy stretch during what's arguably the most consumption-oriented/extractive era in fanfic's history. People dumping thousands of fics on gdrive are being hailed as heroes, drowning out fic writers saying, I didn't consent to be *republished* there.
