I know that characters are more than the actors playing them - they’re the writers, the directors, the collected experiences of the crew and cast informing how a character is built and portrayed. but picard is a deeply *true* person to me. I will be grateful to him for a long, long time.

I grew up watching star trek - specifically TNG and DS9. and I know that having a tv show be a part of your core identity is kind of whatever, but… when I was figuring out The Trans Thing? jean-luc picard (and ben sisko) was and is a damn fine example of what it could mean to be a man.
