Normaly this kind of thing is due to financial incentives, but I don't think that applies here. They're either hypocrites, or they only care about archiving art and don't care about what they're archiving or how it's used.

I found some explenation: e621.net/forum_topics... e6ai is from e6's parent company, but e6 staff seem to want as little connection to it as possible and indicate oposition to it. So it is true that e6 staff at least care about artists. Corporate doesn't though.

I have some additional information on this: e621.net/forum_topics... It seems e6 cares, or at least the staff does, but their parent company doesnt, explaing the apparent hipocrisy.
