I hate wading into this as someone not from the US, but you can also compare how centrists talk about trans people being (quite reasonably!) pissed off about Dem candidates like Turek throwing them under the bus vs. Stevens, who has much more reach and ability to tank a winnable election.

Stevens was one of the most uncharismatic people I have ever seen run for public office… with the exception of Debbie Wasserman Schultz maybe. The DNC is so confused when it loses elections to weaker Republican candidates. The voters, however, totally understand the loss, and it frustrates us.

I, idiot that I am, was happy to hear that Stevens had scheduled an appearance with El-Sayed. Now I legitimately think she is trying to get him to boot her from the appearance so she can do a press tour about it. I hope to god that woman never sets foot in democratic politics again.

This is exactly how Hakeem Jefferies ended up endorsing Mamdani, a statement that is just a series of insults ending with ‘you should vote for them though.’ It accomplishes nothing but achieving a pointless technicality.
