It wasn't a crushing defeat. The Cons got 50k fewer votes than last time. A lot of dippers just stayed home because they were mad about the timing of the election. No crushing defeat, despite the way it looks on the riding counts. A failure of communication mostly. Not a mandate for regressive cuts.
