Jellyfin is a fork of xmbc/emby. It isn't as polished or easy as Plex, and requires more babysitting to make sure metadata is right, etc. It is marginally lighter and faster on silicon but if you've built a good Plex library, little reason to switch.

As far as I'm aware, as long as you have a fixed location your PC can be reached externally (whether fixed IP or domain name), you should be able to: on the outside device's Jellyfin client, the enter that fixed destination as the server, and it should work (assuming ports are exposed and whanot)

You can also set up dynamicdns, and then port forward, or move to a VPS!
