Today I had a really serious talk with one of my students who really fucking hates me for no fucking reason. I asked her if I had done anything to hurt her feelings and that I wanted her to be honest with me. She said no. I hope this reaches her somehow but I'm not holding my breath.

The word “authoritarianism” means so little in a world of nation states that all limit bourgeois rights, and the country (and its citizens) which detains people for saying Free Palestine and has interfered in 180 countries’ democratic processes has no standing to level it against anyone else
