In Newton, MA, single-family homes on ~5,000sf lots sold for an average of $1.2M over the past five years, compared to $2.4M for homes on ~15,000sf lots. Requiring larger lots drives up costs, puts homeownership further out of reach & keeps needed housing options off the market.
