We do the same on reddit.com/r/gameassets/. It's not impossible. Yeah sometimes something seeps through the cracks, but at the very least it's (just like OpenGameArt) a still browsable asset place.
Show PostItch.io should take a stance and side with indies; ban or hide all slop. Hard to enforce for sure, but it's a strong message. I've personally had to disable all bot/agent access to my site, they were eating up my bandwidth, no donations, almost taking down my site for everyone. Why accept this?
