I worked in the grocery industry the last 6 years. They absolutely control pricing on everything. Usually a 30-60% mark-up over what wholesale cost they're getting from the suppliers. Supplier costs have risen slightly, but grocery chains used the pandemic to gouge customers and haven't stopped.
