You are spot on. I am not a fan, but where I live it is obvious which houses want to take part and those that don't. So no tricks just treats. Grandkids super excited. My only regret is that Halloween has taken over from bonfire night - as a child I loved going with my dad to choose those fireworks.

Dropped Child A off in Kingston and it was buzzing and full of young people in costumes... Child B going to a do in Whitechapel which ends at 6am and I'm a) happy that they are happy and b) hopeful that community still exists

Agree! My kids loved it. Tonight there were only 2 tiny witches - but they took great (and serious) enjoyment in selecting sweets and carefully putting them into their cat shaped bags.

If you want to turbo charge proceeding next year, secure some Tunnocks Tea cakes for the trick or treaters. I've never seen a bunch of kids turn Lord of the Flies so quickly and that was before eating them.
