The economics of AI are uniquely ridiculous and bad, though. The money isn't there without a government bailout. They are literally trillions in debt, some of them independently, purely on infrastructure costs that will only keep rising. That the scam has been allowed to continue is not his fault.

I’m so irritated with him wading into this. LA has a huge sheriff department that bumps those numbers significantly. LASD also have internal gangs that have been impossible to get rid of and cost the county millions so idk if the number of cops is the problem here.

I used to think that Gladwell was pretty good. Then he wrote a book about something I have a lot of knowledge about (The Bomber Mafia) and I realized that he's just making it up.
