Show PostDo you know the answer to the question of whether the reigning monarch is / must be / axiomatically is not a British Citizen?
Show PostThe reigning monarch is effectively the country in him- or herself, so they aren’t a citizen but the source from which British citizenship is derived. The monarch /may/ have conflicting allegiances if they rule multiple principalities, such as the Hanoverian position over Britain and within the HRE.
Show PostOn the other hand Boris Johnson didn't give up his US citizenship until after he became Foreign Secretary, and then only because he had to pay US capital gains tax when he sold a house. If he'd not renounced it he would have become PM as a dual citizen.
Show PostYep. But citizenship became the legal term in 1948, when QEII was still a subject, so she became a citizen and remained one.
