A lot of good & smart people say they subscribe to capitalism & then they start describing checks on it or adding qualifiers like ‘well-regulated’, which are all things, any limitation at all, that successful capitalists aim to destroy. They don’t mind if their competitors are bound by them though.

So a capitalist is not simply interested in making money. They are interested in having the greatest share of it. As they want power, control & status. Which means they are also as interested in those beneath them having less money. So they can exert more control over them. It’s Greed + Subjugation.
