The only countermeasure is to aggressively, viciously drive the people who use these systems out of polite society. It is, fundamentally, antisocial behavior and it's time to stop pretending it's not.

If you keep trying to have a conversation about how useful it is for writing emails nobody will read I just have to assume at this point that you're acting in bad faith because the obvious aggregate effect is that everything gets choked with spam until it dies.
