The most heartbreaking story? The death of his older brother due to a pole vaulting accident. That’s not even a joke. The pole split as he was attempting a school record, jabbed him in the thigh, got infected, and he died. This was in the 1920s in small town Louisiana.

Funeral. Deceased is nearly 100. A granddaughter-in-law made a video of him last year, telling all his stories. Growing up, meeting his wife, going to war in Japan, having children. I’m not exaggerating, it’s the best thing I’ve ever seen at a funeral. It’s edited with photos and remembrances.
