Incidentally, on a Reddit thread about this, somebody said that it was in an episode where Walter cheated on Maude (he didn't), and that Maude was using "bitch" in the sense of dog rather than an insult (she wasn't). Misinformation about a show which is easily available to view today is still rife.
Show PostThe great thing about immersing yourself in 70s US television on an extended basis is that the shock value of the language is preserved. So the Maude episode "Walter's Heart Attack" (CBS TX: 23rd Sep 1974) ending with Maude calling Walter a "son-of-a-bitch" still feels genuinely outrageous.

Show PostNo surprises about it getting smashed by Celeb Traitors, but given the amount of promo, I wasn't expecting it would get smashed by an ITV3 repeat of Heartbeat.
