Not having Worf hack up some borg with a bat’leth was a real missed opportunity here. I get they wanted to show the Borg as overwhelming, but they could’ve done this until there’s too many for Worf to fight and he had to run.

The scenes with all of these Starfleet personnel wielding phaser rifles are really a reflection of the a the Dominion War era starting. Canonically, not every Starfleet enlisted/officer really has combat training. Away teams mostly carried Type II’s for the 24th century equivalent of bear attacks.
