corollary: if at some point we need, as a public service, to employ as many people as possible (a-la WPA, CCC, etc.) then you do that! But you do that *as the service* - other public services should employ as many people as necessary to do the work and no more.

TWU be like “Hochul is MAGA because she doesn’t support our MAGA union” in reality, they’re just mad at Hochul because she refused to expand the union’s expensive handouts and make-work jobs funded with taxpayer $$

government exists to provide public services. it should do so with fairly-compensated and empowered employees, but the purpose of the public service is to serve the public, not employ as many people as possible.
