One of my favorite Patrick Stewart roles is always going to be his voice acting on American Dad as Avery Bullock (with some of the most outlandish and ridiculous deliveries of the series), but I also just adore this self-aware direct address gag with him playing himself. I’m gonna miss him too much.

not sure I'm articulating any of this well, but I'm sad, so forgive me. Picard is a towering figure from my childhood, akin to a Pee-Wee Herman or Mr. Rogers. a character that was more like a guiding force than just a goofy TV space captain. can't imagine anyone doing it better than Stewart.

Syndicated spaceship dad is a highly specialized role to have the scope of impact that Captain Picard seems to have had on a lot of us. It's incredible to still feel these feelings about his arc over that series. And it's really because of Stewart that that's the case.
